The CorkPAL Training Workshop for 2011 was held at the brand new and very impressive County Library Headquarters, on the Carrigrohane Rd. on Monday 28th February.
The Workshop was entitled Collections and Collaboration and featured several speakers on the collection strength of their libraries.
The event was opened by Liam Ronayne, Cork City Librarian and the keynote address was given by John FitzGerald, Librarian and Director of Information Services, University College Cork. Valerie King of UCC, and current chair of CorkPAL outlined the current status of the initiative, one year on and Derry Delaney, Librarian, Cork Institute of Technology, closed the event and summarised the main findings of the day.
The Workshop was very well attended with delegates from all the participating libraries and featured a high level of participation and discussion, especially in the breakout workshop sessions, the foci of which were: issues, discussions, ideas and opportunities for CorkPAL.
Some great ideas and new potential developments for CorkPAL to take into the future came out of the event, and the current successes of the programme will be built upon.
